Natural medicinal resources and sources of natural mineral water in the legislation of the Czech Republic

This thesis deals with use of natural medicinal resources and sources of natural mineral water in the Czech Republic. This, due to its varied geological structure, has an extensive quantity of these sources, which can be, in dependance on its physical properties and chemical composition, used either for medical purposes within the frame of spa medical rehabilitation rendition or for bottling and production of bottled mineral water. These resources represent a unique natural wealth, and it is necessary to use them according to this foreknowledge and properly protect them. Among other things, it also means setting of such level of legal protection, which ensures their use only to the extent and under the conditions, that won't negatively affect them and ensure their preservation for future generations. Nowadays is this matter regulated by Act No. 164/2001 Coll., regarding natural medicinal resources, sources of natural mineral water, natural spas and health-resorts and related law amendments (Spa Act) and respective implementing regulations. This thesis aims to introduce this legislation as complex as possible and to outline possible legal recourses of controversial issues.

Rigorous thesis introduces readers to issues of legal regulation of natural medicinal resources and sources of natural mineral waters usage. Czech territory disposes, due to its varied geological structure, extensive quantity of these sources, which, in dependance on its physical properties and chemical composition, can be used to both medical purposes within the frame of spa medical rehabilitation rendition and commercial purposes for bottling and production of bottled mineral water, which fulfills criteria and attributes both remedial and drinkable and bottleable source. Due to the fact, that listed sources are components of natural resources, it is necessary to properly protect them and use them according to this foreknowledge. It also means adjustment of such legal protection level, which ensures usage of these sources according to conditions allowing its proper preservation for the next generations. In response to usage of natural medicinal resources to spa medical rehabilitation care this matter falls within the scope of Czech inspectorate of spas and springs, Ministry of Health. History, current status and effectiveness of the protection zone I B of natural healing resources in the spa place Karlovy Vary The first part of this bachelor thesis contains the general theoretical findings and explains the terms of this matter like the geological and hydrogeological situation in Western Bohemia Region. This piece of knowledge is essential in order to effectively determine the protective areas of natural healing springs in Karlovy Vary. The main part of the thesis looks into the protective area of I B degree, describes its history and surveys the current condition of this area of interest. The aim of the thesis is to summarize the gained knowledge of this matter, to suggest the supportive operations in order to maintain the good condition of the protective area of I B degree, and to assess the current situation including a view of the near future.

Spas and its role in tourism of the Czech Republic

The bachelor work is focused on the spas and its role in tourism of the Czech Republic. It describes current status of spas in the Czech Republic and analyse detailed description in the selected region. The work is divided into two main parts-theoretical and practical. Theoretical part is created through literature search. First defines Czech tourism in general, i. e. typology, forms and associations, which are promoting and presenting tourism in worldwide. The next part is dedicated concretely spa tourism, where is described history of the spa of the Czech Republic and offered services to clients within this area. Further natural healing, which is used in our territory for therapy and also issue of reducing the costs of health insurance companies of branch spas and the associated lower attendance and employment. Practical part is based primarily on a questionnaire survey consisting answers of 90 patients, who underwent treatment in Carlsbad. Finally is assessed the current state of spa treatments and possible proposals which could improve the situation.
Business plan of development of a new spa resort

The purpose of this dissertation is a formulation and analysis of a business plan for development of a new spa resort in Františkových Lázních and conduct feasibility study of proposed business case. The following work is divided into theoretical and practical part. While theoretical section of the dissertation outlines main terms and theoretical concepts, explains relevant legal and regulatory conditions and restrictions relating to offering spa services and details all factors necessary for appropriate formulation of presented business case. Practical part of the dissertation presents a real life business case together with a feasibility study of the proposal, competitor analysis, market research and planned marketing strategy, while analysing returns of invested capital in three alternative scenarios.
Spa tourism in the United States

The aim of the thesis is to describe and analyze comparatively spa tourism in the United States in relation to European countries. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part presents definitions and characteristics of general terms concerning spa tourism. After that there is approached importance of the spas in the tourism sector and health care. Particular attention is paid to the field of wellness, which is one of the most important components of spa tourism in the US. The practical part presents the characteristics of the United States from the perspective of basic and economic data and subsequently within the particular forms of tourism. The main part of this thesis presents a chapter devoted to the characteristics of spa tourism in the US, where is a briefly presented historical development of the spas, as well as the organizational framework and significant Spa Associations. Subsequent analysis of spa tourism, as well as the wellness area defines on the basis of statistical data the current state of spa tourism and its position in the United States to other countries. The final part presents selected spas in terms of significance of the occurrence of natural healing resources, and also in terms of tourist importance.
